July 23, 2023 - In Every Circumstance Trust God, Psalm 46

  1. Read Psalm 46:1-3. What is the one key idea being presented by the Psalmist.

  2. What does "refuge" mean to you? Put words to it and share it with the group.

  3. Share a time you felt the pressure of life and found refuge in the Lord.

  4. In Psalm 46:7 we are told, "The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress". How does the knowledge of God's presence provide peace in your life?

  5. In Psalm 46:10 what is the connection of the first line of this verse and the last two?

  6. This week how can you put into action the "Be Still" portion of verse 10? Take time this week to put aside all tasks and distractions and sit quietly before the Lord and meditate on this verse.

  1. Faith is most real as exercised in the valleys of life. How does this statement ring true for you?

  2. Michael regards Psalm 1 as his family Psalm. It was given to him as he left for college and is passed on to his kids as they grow and begin living life on their own. Do you remember any advice given to you as you began living life more on your own?

  3. Psalm 1:1 calls us to evaluate the influences in our lives. As you think about the number of hours you spend awake and the predominance of negative influences you surround yourself with, is it a surprise that it can be a struggle to think and live faithfully?

  4. How does learning to dwell in the Word change the influences in your waking hours? Have you ever had scripture follow you in your day and impact the way you responded to life?

  5. Why is it important to surround yourself with men or women that are active and excited about their faith? Do you pursue relationships like this? How would you describe the influence of your closest friendships?

August 6, 2023 - To Live in Gratitude, Psalm 34

  1. What consumes the majority of your mental space on any given day? How does your headspace affect your well-being and the actions that you take?

  2. How powerful of an impact would Psalm 34:1 have on our life if we genuinely applied it? Your praise will always be on my mouth I will continually bless you for who you are! How would this practice change your mental space and the actions that come out of your life?

  3. If we began our day by setting the tone with praise how much easier would it be to remain active in our relationship with God through the day? Look at the action words in Psalm 34:4-8; how do these words play out in your day?

  4. What is an integral life or a life of integrity? How is it connected to a Biblical fear of the Lord? How does this fear shape your mind and your day?

  5. What place does confidence play in the Character of God? How does this confidence shape the reliability of God’s activity around you?

  6. If we think of these four things playing out in our every day, then what descriptors should be true of a Child of God dwelling in the Presence of God?

August 13, 2023 - The Lamp Unto Our Feet

  1. How is your sense of direction? How often do you use google maps? Have you ever been lost? And final directional question… do you know where True North is?

  2. Psalm 119 is an impressive Psalm. How clearly did David make his point when writing it?

  3. We often buck at the idea of authority, but when it comes to developing a relationship with navigational authority it is refreshingly good. What does it mean to learn it, obey it, and then love it?

  4. We always want directions to be reliable (as well as our flashlights). What does this Psalm say about the reliability of His past, present, and future?

  5. David makes it clear that His Word is Power! How have you seen that to be true? How quickly and confidently can you turn to this Power? Talk about the 1:15 ratio

  6. Psalm 119 is in the middle of the story of the Bible and ultimately calls out to the fulfillment of Jesus as being our True North. In which area of life do you need to recenter yourself on the True North of Jesus? How does the power of His fulfillment help you trust in Him?

August 20, 2023 - Psalm 136

  2. When we see Psalm 136 used in worship and in war (hardship), which of the two are you more prone to be thankful in?

  3. As you consider how God's steadfast love endures forever, how does it challenge your present circumstance/situation?

August 27, 2023 - Psalm 139

  1. Read Psalm 139 out loud. What line/verse stands out to you and why?

  2. Regarding God’s Omniscience - Why is that important in the Christian Faith?

  3. Regarding God’s Omnipresence - Why is that important in the Christian life?

  4. David is able to proudly proclaim who God is, can you do this to those around you? Why don’t you? Why do you?

  5. Read Verses 23 and 24: Pray this out together and genuinely ask God to do this in our lives. To search our hearts.
