Finding the Gift Series Discussion Questions

 

December 11, 2022 - The Christmas King

1. What were people's messianic hope? Why were they looking for a political king?

2. Has anything changed in the past 2000 years? Why is politics such a hard topic to address? What are the different ways people have addressed politics?

3. We lay the true Messianic hope and birth narrative over Colossians 1:9-14. We first find that the Christmas King comes to save our hearts from sin. Who is the gospel message for and what should it first change?

4. The change in our hearts should then reflect our ability to be a part of the transformation of the world around us. How does the Bible demonstrate our attitudes and actions when engaging in political change? What is the heart that we should never lose focus on?

5. The world never has and never will have a perfect expression of Godly politics and governance. It never has and it never will. That is why the last part of the Christmas King's gift is so important. How do we and our brothers and sisters in other parts of the world experience Peace on earth in the midst of various levels of brokenness?

December 18, 2022 - The Good King

  1. What is one thing that resonated with you from the message this week?

  2. What are some of the areas where you realize things are not as they should be in our world?

  3. What are the biggest social issues/causes that you and your friends care about?

  4. Read Luke 2:11, What does Angels' pronouncement that Jesus is Savior, Christ and Lord mean?

  5. Shepherd may have been on the lower rung of their society, potentially overlooked, and outcasts. Have you ever felt like that was true for you? How should the Gospel impact your view of yourself?

  6. How should having a biblical worldview guide our actions and involvement in social issues?

  7. What are some ways you can “seek the welfare” of your city or community? Share one area where you have had to change your perspective based on what the Bible says about that thing? Spend some time praying for each other about what God would have you each to do with the gift we have in Jesus.
